By Prathan L. Powell, Sr.

Genesis 28:11 – 12And he lighted upon a certain place, and tarried there all night, because the sun was set; and he took of the stones of that place, and put them for his pillows, and lay down in that place to sleep. And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven; and behold the angels of God ascending and descending on it.

Have you ever climbed a ladder on your own? Somehow, it is more comforting knowing someone is stabilizing it under you. A good ladder holder is someone you trust to be at the bottom while you pursue to go to the top. If you lack confidence and trust in that person, you are in a dangerous position. The word climb means to move upward or towards the top of something. A ladder has the potential to take us to a higher position than where we presently are. In our Christian walk, our relationship with God is dependent upon how high we are willing to go. Are you ready to go to the next level in God? If you answered yes, you must be willing to climb. What is challenging to most people is the height of the climb. This is not a natural climb I am referring to, but a spiritual one. When God sends down His ladder from heaven, you must be willing to get on and climb upward. As you climb, be careful not to look to friends or be distracted by what is to your left or right, but position yourself to look to God from where your help comes.  The awesomeness is this - when we do not limit God in our ladder experience, we gradually leave level ground and move to higher levels in Him. Who is holding your ladder? Is it someone who is easily distracted or rejoices when others fall or is it someone who encourages you to keep climbing upward? When God sends down His ladder from heaven, He is standing above it watching over you. He said, “And, behold, I am with thee…” Isn’t it good to know that God is with us always?  In closing, I would like to leave you with this thought – there is no limit to where God can take you in the Spirit when you are willing to climb your ladder. Read this week’s scriptures: Genesis 28:11-15.
